Wow, the first week is gone already! All of our First Grade classes have been hard at work getting into the routine of being back at school. One of the most important things we did this week was to create and display our classroom contracts. Every class in The Village School makes a contract, and students understand that they are expected to follow the contract both in- and outside the classroom.
Don't forget to check your child's yellow Take-Home folder to see flyers of upcoming events and very important information. This week, children brought home the Honorable Use Policy for Technology class. Parents and their children need to sign this form, as well as the Parent/Student Handbook Acknowledgement form, and bring them back to school. Without the Honorable Use Policy, children will be unable to use the Chromebooks to access the internet during Technology class.
There are some First Grade teachers who still do not have Homeroom Parents. HRP's are very important. They run the class Shutterfly site, are a go-between for parents and the HR teacher, and organize class parties, and Mystery Reader. If your teacher does not have 2 HR parents, please contact them to volunteer! Being a HR Parent is very rewarding and fun. If you are not sure whether both slots have been filled, send your child's teacher a quick email to ask. They will really appreciate that your are thinking of them.
