This week with the children was very short, but we packed in a lot of learning!
We have been reinforcing the Village Value of the month (safety) by recognizing children who demonstrate safe choices throughout the school day. The children are given a paper cut-out of a viking and are allowed to put that viking on our Village Values bulletin board, outside the Koehl Gym.
The children also spent some time this week discussing the word empathy, and what it means.
Classes read the story "Stand in my Shoes", which is a kid-friendly book covering this topic, and discussed with their classmates what it would look like to have empathy.
This is the first introduction the students have had into their Social/Emotional Learning (character development) this year.
Upcoming Events:
Dewberry Farm field trip: Friday, October 9th.
If you are interested in being a chaperon for this trip, please contact your homeroom parents, or your child's homeroom teacher.
