We are all set to begin a new unit in reading and writing next week...Poetry! The students have been exposed to some poetry this week in preparation for after the Easter holiday.
This unit is about exposure to different types of poetry, learning the "rules" of certain types of poetry (such as shape and color poems, or acrostic poems), and trying our hand at writing our own poems in these various styles.

This week for grammar our student's focus was on using blends in the final position of a word. For example, in the word ramp, the blend is "mp" and found at the end of the word.
We also continue to explore adjectives through practice and games, and will be using our new knowledge of these words when writing our own poetry.

Our spelling focus this week was on -ow saying "OH." We briefly discussed that it makes two sounds, but will cover the -ow as in cow at a later time.
