We have finished our plant stories, and the children did a wonderful job! They were creative and entertaining to read. Well done First Graders!
In spelling and grammar we covered double s and z, and began discussing pronouns, respectively. Pronouns are tricky at this age, so we did a simple introductory activity, which we will build upon as the weeks progress.
We have extended our learning of sequencing and retelling, since these skills take some time to develop fully. The children have continued practicing putting the events of stories in order and trying to remember even minor details from the stories they read.

We are also working on persuasive writing, reading stories like I Wanna Iguana, and Green Eggs and Ham to help children get an idea for how to persuade someone else.
We are also playing Would You Rather, and using these questions to write persuasive entries in our writing journals. Some examples of questions we have answered are: Would you rather fly, or be able to talk to animals?, Would you rather be a singer or an actor?, and many more!
